Orla Ní Cheallacháin
Orla Ní Cheallacháin is a PhD Candidate and Government of Ireland Postgraduate Scholar in the School of Politics and International Relations UCD (funded by the Irish Research Council). She works on critical security studies, counter-terrorism policy and in particular the use of ‘state of emergency’ frameworks as a response to political violence. Her current research project examines the use of the law as a counter-terrorism tool in the United Kingdom from 1973 to present, and its implications for human rights and civil liberties.
