Agustín José Menéndez is Professor in Law at Universidad León, Spain and adjoint researcher at ARENA Centre for European Studies. Menéndez holds a PhD in Law from the European University Institute (EUI), Florence, Italy.

His main fields of interest include political and legal theories of democracy and fundamental rights, distributive justice as applied to European law, especially to tax law and socio-economic rights, and the interplay between fundamental rights and the international use of force. He has published in peer review journals such as Ratio Juris, European Law Review, Common Market Law Review, Columbia Journal of European Law, European Public Law, and Journal of Common Market Studies. He is editor in chief of the European Law Journal.
