Eberhard Karls University of Tübingen (EKUT) is a public research university located in the city of Tübingen, Baden-Württemberg. It is among the oldest universities in Germany.
EKUT's Institute of Political Science is one of Germany's leading institutes of political science teaching and research. Founded by Theodor Eschenburg, the institute has had a significant impact on the development of the field after the Second World War. Its particular emphasis since the 1970s has been on the study of International Relations and Peace and Conflict Research, as well as on European integration. The institute runs a high-profile Masters programme in International Relations and Peace Studies, and is linked to EKUT’s European Center for Research on Federalism.
